About the Role
As a member of the University of Roehampton’s Academic Registry, the Academic Services Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective administration of the student-related academic cycle, including induction, enrolment, assessments, and retention activities. This role ensures all processes align with University policies, Academic Regulations, and Quality Assurance standards. The post supports academic departments in planning and manages the interface between departments and central university services by commissioning support when required. Strong communication skills are essential to maintain collaboration across different functions and stakeholders.
Leadership is a key aspect of this role, requiring demonstrable management experience to lead the Programme Administrator team and uphold high standards of customer service for all stakeholders, including students. Reporting to the Deputy Academic Registrar (Academic Services), the role-holder ensures the team remains updated on academic regulations and compliance, and actively supports the implementation of new systems and university-wide projects.
Main duties include managing all aspects of administration for taught and research student programmes, overseeing administrative support for programme validation and periodic reviews, providing positive leadership and development for administrative staff, ensuring excellent customer service, producing management information and reports, and supporting Deans and other staff with university administration. The role also involves liaising with HR on employment matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as data protection and health and safety, and engaging with university events like Open Days and Graduation Ceremonies. Additional duties commensurate with the seniority of the post may be required.
Experience
Proven management experience with strong team leadership skills. Experience in academic administration or a related field is highly desirable. Demonstrable ability to manage complex administrative processes and deliver excellent customer service.
