About the Role

The Administrative Assistant will join the dedicated Genetics team within Synnovis Analytics, supporting the provision of pathology testing services. This role is based in a UKAS accredited laboratory environment, primarily located on the 4th floor of Southwark Wing and 5th floor of Tower Wing at Guy’s Hospital.
The role involves supporting the Office and Specimen Reception team, handling a high volume of 200-300 samples daily, including various sample types and referral requests. You will undergo intensive training in both administrative and sample reception duties, including processing and handling patient samples, and will be instrumental in delivering excellent service to our customers.
Key responsibilities include accurate data entry of sensitive patient information into laboratory systems such as NGIS, managing communications with health professionals, supporting export coordination, maintaining training logs, and ensuring compliance with health and safety and quality management standards. You will work both autonomously and as part of a team, requiring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and strong IT capabilities.
Synnovis is actively shaping the future of pathology by creating a world-leading Hub and Spoke pathology network with NHS partners. While the role is currently hospital-based, from April 2024, services and staff will begin transitioning to a state-of-the-art Hub laboratory in Blackfriars, with some work continuing at essential service laboratories across the hospital network.
Experience
- Administrative or office experience is essential.
- Experience working in a patient-focused environment is desirable.
- Previous experience handling patient samples in a clinical laboratory setting is advantageous.

Qualifications
- Good all-round education to A-level standard.
- GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science.
- Higher level certificate or diploma in Biology or Life Sciences at diploma or degree level is desirable.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are a plus.
