About the Role
Join Synnovis, the UK’s leading and fastest growing pathology company, working in partnership with Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals, King’s College Hospital, and Princess Royal University Hospital. As an Administrative Assistant within the Genetics team of Synnovis Analytics, you will support the provision of pathology testing services to patients and customers. This role is based in a UKAS accredited laboratory located on the 4th floor of Southwark Wing and 5th floor of Tower Wing at Guy’s Hospital.
You will be part of the Office and Specimen Reception team, handling a high volume of around 200-300 samples daily, including various sample types and referral requests. Your responsibilities will include processing patient samples, accurate data entry of sensitive patient information onto laboratory systems such as NGIS, and supporting Cancer Genetics and wider Genetics departments.
The role requires intensive training in both administrative and sample reception duties, after which you will contribute to delivering an excellent service to customers. You will work both autonomously and collaboratively, demonstrating strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication. Your duties will also involve managing departmental mailboxes, answering enquiries from health professionals, maintaining databases, and ensuring compliance with health and safety and quality management standards.

Experience
- Essential: Administrative or office experience
- Desirable: Experience in a patient-focused environment and handling patient samples in a clinical laboratory setting

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain concentration for long periods
- Computer literate with good numeracy skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- Essential: Good all-round education to A-level standard including GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science
- Desirable: Higher level certificate or diploma in Biology or Life Sciences at diploma or degree level
