About the Role
The London Borough of Havering is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join the Assessment Team and contribute to delivering an effective children’s social care service. You will work as part of a social work team to improve outcomes for children and young people in line with statutory and departmental policies, procedures, and guidance.
In this role, you will directly manage and supervise a small number of qualified and non-social work staff, manage a caseload of complex and challenging cases, and support the team manager in maintaining and developing high professional standards across the team. You will bring specialist knowledge in an area of social work practice with children and families to be used across the service.
You will represent the service in developing key service provisions or local strategic initiatives and take responsibility for developing skills, expertise, and knowledge on a wide range of practice issues. This includes providing consultation, coaching, and mentoring within the team, effective case management, purposeful evidence-based interventions, analytical assessments, and producing high quality written work. Additionally, you will support team development and the recruitment process.

Experience
Proven experience managing and supervising social work and non-social work staff. Experience handling complex and challenging cases within children’s social care. Specialist knowledge in an area of social work practice with children and families is essential.
