We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Site Manager to support the successful delivery of high-quality construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of health and safety, quality control, and project management, ensuring all work is completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. You will work closely with site managers, subcontractors, and stakeholders to maintain high standards of workmanship and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations, site safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
Maintain quality control using ISO systems, SnagR software, and rigorous inspection processes.
Monitor and report on subcontractor performance, issuing notices of non-conformance when required.
Support the site team in delivering projects on time by coordinating material deliveries, plant requisitions, and logistics.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with NHBC, statutory bodies, and warranty providers.
Oversee site presentation, cleanliness, and waste management to meet corporate standards.
Work collaboratively with surveyors, contractors, and stakeholders to manage budgets, material requisitions, and labour costs.
Lead, motivate, and support on-site teams, ensuring clear communication and problem-solving to maintain project momentum.
Requirements:
Qualifications: Level 4 (HNC/NVQ4) or extensive trade experience in construction.
Certifications: SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid, PASMA, Fire Marshal, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, Scaffold Awareness.
Technical Knowledge: Experience with Traditional, RC Frame, and Timber Frame construction.
Strong understanding of construction compliance, ISO standards, NHBC, and health & safety legislation.
Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and effectively coordinate subcontractors.
Experience in project planning, reporting, issue mitigation, and resource management.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
