Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Place Marking Development Manager (fundraising) to join the team in London. This new role is an exciting opportunity to lead on securing the funding required for delivery of the very first Historic England National Place Marking scheme.
This is a part time role, 0.6- 0.8 FTE (flexible to suit the applicant)and a 2 year fixed-term contract.
National: £38,715 pro-rata
Greater London+: £41,680 pro-rata
Inner London: £43,100 pro-rata
We are looking for a curious, passionate, and collaborative individual to lead on fundraising for an exciting new Blue Plaque scheme. The ideal candidate will be able to combine strategic ambition with an eye for detail and will have strong relationship-based fundraising experience and a successful track record of securing five and six-figure donations from Individuals, Trusts, and Foundations.
What you will be doing
You will Lead on the development and delivery of a three-year fundraising strategy for the national expansion of the Blue Plaque scheme and be responsible for the design, launch and management of all aspects of the fundraising strategy, securing donations from a range of sources to achieve an annual target.
You will manage the relationships of donors and other key external stakeholders, as well as internal relationships with staff (particularly the Blue Plaque Programme Manager, colleagues in Public Engagement, Communications, and Regional Teams), leading on the development of fundraising communications and marketing materials, including a compelling case for support, donor communications, supporter feedback and reporting, press announcements and website content.
Alongside the Programme Manager, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of events to promote, champion and celebrate the National Place Marking Scheme – ensuring these events effectively engage, inspire, and thank supporters.
The successful applicant will join a successful and established fundraising team, with wide-ranging experience and a solid track record of success. In the last five years, we have secured upwards of £6 million in private philanthropic funding, across programmes including our capital campaign at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, our trailblazing heritage apprenticeship programme, and engagement with young people, schools, and communities.
What we are looking for
1. Experience of designing and delivering a complex, multi-channel fundraising campaign
2. Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at the highest levels, ensuring passion, enthusiasm and professionalism at all times
3. Thorough experience of creating engaging and compelling fundraising content – from case for support documents and funder applications through to tailored communications with individual donors.
4. Ability to actively contribute as a key member of a small, multi-skilled team – sharing knowledge and experience to support and inspire colleagues.
5. Experience of effectively using CRM software to manage funder data and communications, and to structure engagement approaches and solicitation of gifts.
6. The ability to work alongside sector colleagues to ensure the collective value to the historic environment and communities reflects the funding received.
