Hours
Full Time (hours not specified)
Salary

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Homelessness, Independence and Preventative Services, which adopts a preventative approach across housing, health and social care agendas. You will be a frontline professional delivering a first-class, modern and flexible service to some of the most vulnerable people in the Borough.
This role is central to the Council’s response to homelessness, focusing on reducing the use of temporary accommodation and achieving more upstream prevention outcomes. You will be responsible for booking in, cancelling, and tracking applicants placed in emergency and temporary accommodation to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and guidance.
You will provide high standards of face-to-face customer service to homeless residents approaching the Housing Service in person at Hounslow House, ensuring suitable placement into emergency accommodation. You will maintain accurate records to maximise the use of available accommodation, transfer households to more suitable accommodation as required, and assist with the collection of income by tracking rent accounts and Housing Benefit claims.
Additionally, you will help resolve issues where applicants may no longer be residing in their accommodation, assist with emergency and temporary accommodation placements, liaise with external providers, proactively prevent and resolve crises, and work collaboratively to resolve wide-ranging issues associated with emergency accommodation.
Join a progressive public sector team committed to improving and developing services for customers in one of London’s most diverse boroughs.
Experience
Experience working in a customer-facing role and handling sensitive information is desirable. Experience within housing or homelessness services would be advantageous but is not essential.
About you
You will be a committed and compassionate individual with strong organisational skills and attention to detail. You must be able to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and communicate clearly with vulnerable residents and external partners. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to work collaboratively within a team are essential.
Qualifications
A standard DBS check is required for this role. No specific formal qualifications are stated, but relevant experience and a commitment to the values of the London Borough of Hounslow are important.
