About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Building Safety Manager to join our team at Origin Housing. As a subject matter expert on Building Safety, you will support Origin Housing to achieve their responsibilities in relation to the Building Safety Act, supporting legislation and guidance. You will proactively provide guidance, assistance and support working with wider teams to promote a positive building safety culture and best practice building safety management.
What you’ll do
• Support the development of Safety Case reviews and digital records as detailed within the Building Safety Act, prepare safety case reports for the Regulator and ensure that buildings remain compliant to and meet license requirements.
• Lead and manage the Building a Safer Future team (BSF) and the delivery of specialist building surveys for buildings in scope under the Building Safety Act and special projects to investigate and remedy major structural and/or fire safety defects; manage remedial works under the Building a Safer Future programme.
• Explain and implement a formal approach to building safety management demonstrating how hazards and risks, including those arising from temporary works and maintenance, can be reduced through various means.
• Develop and implement strategies required to achieve safety throughout the building in conjunction with occupants and other key stakeholders, including emergency services, service providers, contractors and suppliers.
• Ensure the building safety team is able to provide extensive technical guidance to support the construction process from the outset including fire strategies, retrospective repairs and maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Lead, manage and motivate the team, monitoring and appraising performance, allocating works and ensuring that all team members’ responsibilities are carried out effectively and in a timely manner.
Experience
• Member of the Institute Fire Engineers (MIFireE)
• CIOB Building Safety Diploma
• Construction related or engineering degree
• Minimum Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety or equivalent
• NEBOSH Fire/General Certificate or equivalent
• Working knowledge of the fire engineered solutions that can contribute to fire strategies.
• Ability to interpret complex fire safety solutions that can contribute to fire strategies.
