Chargehand – Grounds Maintenance (Deptford, Lewisham) Location: Deptford, Lewisham, London Salary: Competitive Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Hours: 40 hours per week About the Role Are you a natural leader with a passion for green spaces? Glendale is looking for a Grounds Maintenance Chargehand to lead a team on our new 15-year contract with the London Borough of Lewisham. This is a fantastic opportunity to take responsibility for the smooth running of our Deptford depot, overseeing daily grounds maintenance operations and ensuring high-quality service delivery. Key Responsibilities: ✔ Oversee and coordinate day-to-day grounds maintenance work ✔ Lead a team and set quality expectations by example ✔ Carry out a variety of tasks, including shrub pruning, weeding, planting, herbicide application, grass cutting, and winter leaf clearance ✔ Assist the Contract Manager and Contract Supervisor with the efficient running of the contract ✔ Ensure all health & safety standards are met ✔ Work with IT systems to manage schedules and reporting

Who We’re Looking For: ✅ Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role ✅ Recognised horticultural qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3 in Amenity Horticulture or equivalent) desirable ✅ LANTRA ride-on mower operation and pesticide application certification beneficial ✅ Strong leadership skills and ability to manage teams effectively ✅ Good communication and IT skills ✅ Full UK driving licence required
