About The Role
Overall Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join our team at AFC Wimbledon as a Site Cleaning Supervisor. As the Supervisor Manager, you will work alongside the soft services manager managing the cleaning operations within the stadium premises, ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and overall maintenance standards are consistently met. Your primary focus will be to lead a team of cleaning staff, manage schedules, and enforce safety protocols to create a clean and welcoming environment for visitors and staff.
This is to include any peripheral services supplied to the client such as waste management, window cleaning, hygiene or any other service provided by OCS.
The site delivers sports related events as well as providing associated conferencing and office facilities. The Supervisor is expected to oversee, plan and help manage the workload of both the event and the daily scheduled cleaning activities.
The Supervisor will support the manager in the service delivery, monitoring and directing cleaning tasks as required and leading the team when completing special projects and during important events.
You will be working on a variable shift rota 40 hours per week.
Main Duties & Responsibilities of the Role:
Take full responsibility for the operational delivery of all cleaning services at AFC Wimbledon to provide consistently high levels of performance that meet the contractual obligations to our customers.
To deliver daily cleaning requirements, as per the agreed cleaning standards and specification, to (including but not limited to) external pathways, car parking areas, reception areas, offices, hospitality areas, corridors, stairs, lifts, and meeting rooms.
Make sure that the team maintains the cleaning schedules, ensuring all areas of the site are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards before, during, and after events.
Manage the inventory and supplies, including cleaning chemicals, tools, machines and equipment, ensuring they are readily available and properly utilised by the cleaning team
Train and educate cleaning staff on best practices, cleaning techniques, and equipment usage, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Monitor and report any maintenance or repair needs, including plumbing, electrical, or structural issues, to the appropriate personnel for timely resolution.
Manage the recruitment and onboarding process of new cleaning staff, ensuring a thorough understanding of job responsibilities, policies, and procedures
Manage time and focus according to the service requirements, leading the team where necessary, undertaking quality checks, maintaining communications, problem solving and making sure that all tasks are being completed to the required standards.
Conduct and review audits of consumable products and uniforms, reporting and managing stock levels as required
To actively work with the AFCW operations team & line manager to deliver the cleaning demands for match days, covering the build-up, the actual match and the post-match clean. To have the venue ready for the next business day.
To manage the ancillary services (waste, washrooms, windows) on behalf of OCS and AFCW, taking the lead to minimise any business disruption and ensure best value for money.
Health & Safety Duties:
Ensure that you have received the necessary training so that you can competently carry out your duties and responsibilities. Acknowledge and accept a personal responsibility for the safety of you, your staff, client staff, visitors and all service users.
Raise any concerns over Health & Safety breaches in accordance with Company Procedure.
Enforce and promote safety protocols, ensuring all cleaning staff follow proper procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Deliver ‘Toolbox Talks’ and other training initiatives with the cleaning team on a regular basis
To ensure that a safe working environment is maintained through compliance with all company health and safety policies and procedures.
Take responsibility for ensuring that plant and equipment is maintained and fit for purpose
To take ownership of the Health & Safety plan for cleaning. To attend all H&S meetings held by the client when requested to do so and report all issues to your staff on a timely basis.
Objectives / Critical Performance Measures (CPM’s)
Achieve / exceed budgeted turnover
Maintain accurate up to date training records for all staff
Improve employee retention & stability of the team – staff turnover to be less than 10% per year
Achieve client SLA’s and KPI’s as specified in the contract
Ensure all staff are trained and can safely deliver the scope of the contract
Support the soft services manager
Educational Level:
Relevant certifications in cleaning and sanitation
Qualifications in management of teams and operations will be a plus
Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook to a good standard
Being able to use Time Gate (or similar software) for scheduling
Knowledge of other soft services and experience in a similar delivery is preferred
Waste management and environment experience
Professional Qualifications:
Holds IOSH Certification or NEBOSHH (OCS will train if not)
Experience:
Experience of supervising a cleaning team at an event service-based contract or a large facility.
Proven track record in delivering effective customer service whilst maintaining appropriate operating margins.
Evidence of “hands-on” operational experience and a track record of successful client relationship management.
Proven record of managing, motivating, developing and retaining a workforce.
A good knowledge of cleaning practices at a sports venue environment.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques, best practices, and industry standards for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in public spaces.
Ability to identify and address cleaning-related issues, such as safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, and maintenance needs.
Personal Characteristics / Attributes:
Good operational and time management skills, with the ability to problem solve and meet deadlines
Ability to mentor and develop subordinates, coaching as necessary.
Strong attention to detail, ensuring high-quality standards are consistently met
Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload and delegate effectively to direct reports.
