As Clinical Governance and Improvement Lead, you will be at the forefront of quality, safety, and innovation, driving excellence across Primary Care and Phlebotomy services.
This is more than a governance role; it is a chance to influence strategic service design, patient safety, and regulatory compliance across multiple care settings. You will collaborate closely with NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), and Synnovis leadership to build integrated, high-performing governance frameworks. Your work will have visibility and impact across the organisation and beyond.
Key responsibilities include embedding a robust governance and quality framework, leading quality assurance, incident reviews, learning, and continuous improvement. You will chair Governance, Risk & Quality meetings, lead clinical incident reviews under PSIRF, and support scientific and clinical governance compliance. Additionally, you will empower professional development by identifying training needs and promoting continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities.
Synnovis is creating a world-leading Hub and Spoke pathology network, with 70% of services moving to a state-of-the-art Hub laboratory in central London from April 2024. This role is central to ensuring services remain safe, responsive, and future-ready, supporting patient-facing roles within Phlebotomy and Primary Care.

Experience
- Extensive experience at clinical governance management level
- Strong working knowledge of pathology disciplines and community services
- Proven experience organising large-scale CPD or training events
- Demonstrable skills in data management, analysis, and reporting
- Experience implementing LEAN methodologies in clinical or scientific settings
- Experience leading and chairing structured meetings with action tracking
Desirable Experience
- Experience working across organisational boundaries such as ICBs, NHS Trusts, and external partners
- Experience using Power BI or similar operational performance management software
Qualifications
Essential
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
- Governance or Risk Management qualification
Desirable
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Green Belt qualification in improvement methodology
Skills & Knowledge
- High level of computer literacy including Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio
- Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to interpret and present complex data to inform decision-making
- Ability to identify training needs and support delivery of in-house governance education
- Ability to promote learning from incidents and embed continuous improvement
