About the Role
The Committee Services team has a vacancy for a Committee Assistant supporting the work of the London Assembly and its committees. You will work in a team that also provides key clerking support across the GLA Group to the London Assembly, Mayor of London, Transport for London, the London Legacy Development Corporation and the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation. No two days are the same and you can often read about work you’ve contributed to in the media on your way home.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need excellent communication skills, the ability to manage and prioritise your time effectively, an eye for detail, and a collaborative approach.
This role provides high quality support to the Committee Services team and the London Assembly meetings. Typical duties include managing day-to-day committee business; liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders; reviewing transcripts of meetings; scheduling meetings; participating in committee project and team meetings; preparing draft correspondence, reports, agendas and minutes; and establishing and maintaining various administrative systems.
This is a politically restricted role under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.

About the Organisation
The London Assembly scrutinises the Mayor's activities by questioning the Mayor about their decisions and investigates issues of importance to London. The Assembly consists of 25 Members elected every four years. The Secretariat supports the Assembly’s activities, including communications through press office, social media, publicity and events.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience of servicing meetings in a high-profile organisation.
- Evidence of ability to implement and manage complex administrative systems.
- A high level of understanding of the use and application of IT applications.
- Knowledge of the role of scrutiny in a local authority setting is advantageous.
