Description
Are you a proactive and enthusiastic communications professional looking to develop your career in the NHS? We are looking for a Communications Assistant to join our West London communications team and play an active role in transforming our staff engagement and external communications activities. This is a pivotal role, acting as the first point of contact for requests and queries coming into the communications team. Being front of house, you’ll be expected to be highly organised in order to provide a responsive service and able to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff across the Trust as well as external partners and stakeholders. This isn’t an administrative or entry level position; we’re looking for someone who has communications experience within a communications team or agency, or of working in the media. You should already have experience of developing and publishing communications materials such as staff newsletters, news articles, blogs and videos. You’ll be familiar with using digital platforms and will be capable of creating, updating and monitoring content across our staff intranet, external website and social media. You’ll be joining a team that is supportive of developing communications professionals. We’ll provide the opportunity for you to gain new skills and experience by getting involved in projects, campaigns and events being delivered by the team. The NHS is a great environment in which to build a career and in this role you can make a real difference to staff communications and the profile of community healthcare services. West London NHS Trust is one of the most diverse healthcare providers in the UK, delivering a range of mental health and physical healthcare and community services. The Trust runs Broadmoor Hospital, one of three high secure hospitals in the country, with an international reputation. Our high secure services care for patients from South of England and we provide low and medium secure services across eight London boroughs. The Trust also provides mental and physical healthcare in three London boroughs (Ealing, Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham). We employ 4,500 staff, of whom 56% are BME. Our turnover for 2023-24 is £426m. The Trust is rated as ‘Good’ overall by the Care Quality Commission. Forensic services are rated as ‘Outstanding’. The Trust is an established partner and contributor in the development of the evolving North West London Integrated Care System and the Integrated Care Board. The Trust leads the NW London Children and Adolescent Mental Health provider collaborative. The Candidate Pack provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role, and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience and knowledge required. Please view as attached. The person specification below is not the full person specification, but outlines the criteria against which your application form will be assessed.
