About The Role We are seeking a Cook to join the team at Highbury New Park Day Centre on a permanent basis. The main duties of the role are: - To have responsibility in the absence of the cook for food preparation, ensuring the kitchen offers a healthy rang of meal choices for our service users. To work with service users who are physically disabled, visually impaired and hard of hearing or deaf and provide training in food hygiene and meal preparation in one to one group sessions. - To assist the cook in the day to day management, monitoring and performance of the kitchen. To have responsibility in the absence of the cook for the kitchen budget, ensuring the service provided represents good value and expenditure remains within the allocated budget. - To have responsibility for preparing, cooking and serving meals for approximated 60 customers daily, including planning menus, taking into account special dietary and cultural needs, offering a choice of nutritional main meal and snack options and proving a buffet catering service as required. - To have responsibility in absence of the cook for controlling food and equipment stocks including ordering, stock rotation, checking orders, invoices and delivery notes. - To maintain a high standard of hygiene and safety in the kitchen, including the cleanliness and including washing up crockery and other cooking utensils and inspection of equipment and compliance with health and safety and food standards regulations. - We determined to make Islington fairer.
