About the Role
Are you ready to play a key role in shaping and safeguarding the future of our highways and public spaces? We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Development Engineer to join our dynamic Transport & Development team. You’ll be responsible for inspecting and monitoring highway and public realm works to ensure they meet our high standards—both technically and in terms of public safety. You'll act as the vital link ensuring that developer-funded work is delivered to specification, compliant with agreements, and integrated safely with existing infrastructure. With a varied workload covering many sites across the borough, you’ll be collaborating with developers, contractors, legal services, and other stakeholders, inspecting sites, verifying legal and technical compliance, helping to bring high-quality, sustainable urban infrastructure to life.
Experience
A HND (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; solid technical experience in highways engineering and construction; knowledge of highway law, materials, and public realm standards; sharp numerical and measurement skills for on-site data collection and analysis.
About You
You thrive in a fast-paced, site-focused environment and take pride in precision, safety, and getting the details right. Whether you're walking a new development site, resolving an on-the-ground technical issue, or helping legal teams secure essential agreements, you approach each task with confidence and a solutions-driven mindset.
Qualifications
Effective communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders; competency with ICT systems and technical tools, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
