About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated biodiversity specialist. This role is with Tower Hamlets Council, where you will work within our Sustainable Development Team in the Housing and Regeneration Directorate. You will collaborate with our Environment, Parks, and Planning Teams to act as a consultee on biodiversity matters across the borough, ensuring compliance with legislation and policies regarding ecology. The London Borough of Tower Hamlets supports a surprising diversity of wild plants and animals in various habitats, including protected species such as bats and the Black Redstart. Key responsibilities include leading biodiversity initiatives, providing expert advice, and engaging with stakeholders to assess the impact of development on biodiversity.
Experience
Experience in a related role with knowledge of local biodiversity action plans, biodiversity net gain regulations, and other environmental legislation.
About you
An engaging communicator with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. You should have significant experience in project management, site surveying, and community engagement.
Qualifications
A degree or post-graduate degree in an Ecology/Biodiversity related discipline.
