Job overview An opportunity has arisen for a new permanent Finance Analyst in our busy, professional finance department. The successful candidate will already be actively pursuing an accounting qualification, have experience in management accounting and be able to demonstrate a dynamic approach to their work. The role reports to the Finance Business Partner responsible for the commercial management of our Host Trust contracts and acts as an intermediary between the central Finance Team and our diverse service lines across various sites. The role requires proactive collaboration with the lab operations and would suit someone looking for a semi-autonomous position with plenty of scope to add value. You will be responsible for working closely with senior operations staff, producing, interpreting, and communicating the financial results; you’ll partner with them to take the actions necessary to deliver the budget on target, as well as driving further improvements in the financial performance of the business. Each month you’ll gather financial and operational data from various sources and produce the month-end reporting packs which are key to interpreting performance and partner with the directorate leads to take management actions based on the information. You will analyse and monitor financial information and produce variance analysis, budgeting, and re-forecasting, as well as provide analysis to support business cases which drive the business forward. We expect to move to new offices in the Hub building located in Blackfriars in 2024. The Finance Business Partnering team delivers day-to-day contract management of commercial relationship between its key NHS Trusts and Synnovis, and acts and an intermediary between the Central Finance Team and our lab operations to deliver financial performance improvements, quality business cases, new test and service enhancement pricing, and other business support services. It is a challenging role which will suit someone dynamic who is pursuing their own personal development through a recognised accounting qualification, and who wants to implement their technical book learning while having plenty of scope to add value to the business. You will regularly spend time embedded within among our lab operations, gathering financial and operational intelligence, produce monthly MI and variance analysis, and supporting production of quarterly reforecasts and annual budgets. Situated 5 minutes from Southwark station you will have easy access to the vibrant South Bank and local amenities Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Progressing in a recognised accounting qualification, namely ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or CIMA Experience Essential criteria Be highly conversant in the use of Excel and other packages within the Microsoft Office suite Desirable criteria NHS/Healthcare experience SAP experience Skills and Knowledge Essential criteria Gets up and into the labs.
