Your Role As our Group Finance Manager, you’ll be the finance lead responsible for the financial management of the group companies. You’ll do this through leading on a robust, efficient and helpful business partnering service to the business, supported by other members of the finance team. Your Day to Day Responsibilities Month-end Oversee the effective operation of month-end processes in accordance with the agreed month-end timetable, providing support to the location Finance Managers where required. Prepare and take ownership for the group companies and one or two locations in accordance with the month-end timetable, including: · Producing and finalising monthly trial balances and balance sheet reconciliations. · Accurately preparing & posting monthly accruals, prepayments & other journals. · Reporting on performance and variances to budget and forecast. · Assisting the Membership Manager / budget holders in the preparation and presentation of the results at the monthly business review meetings. Reporting · Prepare the monthly reporting for the group results. · Prepare monthly cashflow forecasts for review by the FC / CFO and Directors. · Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts. · Manage the preparation of any funders and landlord reporting that is required. · Manage the group quarterly VAT returns for review by the Financial Controller, and submission of the group return. · Manage and review business rates reporting schedules to ensure they are accurately reported to the rates consultant and work with the membership teams to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner. Payroll · Work with the Head of People to process monthly payroll, ensuring that all statutory duties regarding the payment of taxes and pension scheme contributions are met, and appropriate records are maintained & control accounts are reconciled each month. · Ensure the timely submission of ongoing and year-end HMRC requirements and returns are met, including P11D returns. Audit · Manage the year-end audit process for the group companies: prepare audit files, liaise with external audit teams and provide support to the Financial Controller in preparing statutory accounts, through to sign off. Management · Provide line management and support for the Finance Assistant for accounts receivable and payable, ensuring completeness of revenue, credit control and supplier payments, security deposits, refunds and the management of bank accounts. Other responsibilities · Monitor cashflow of companies to ensure sufficient funds and reserve accounts are maintained at the appropriate level. · Advise and support the Financial Controller in devising and implementing new initiatives, policies or system improvements to ensure effective financial controls and procedures. · Support the review and on-boarding of new sites through the review of models and commercial arrangements. · Manage day-to-day financial queries from the membership and support teams, members and other stakeholders, either through the helpdesk, finance inbox or directly, ensuring an efficient and timely response. · Develop good working relationships to collaborate with Membership Managers for each location & group budget holders, ensuring understanding of key financial issues, reviewing revenue forecasts & sharing responsibility for the effective financial management of the company. How you’ll measure success Success is measured across the following KPIs which contribute directly to the Finance Team achieving our overall company performance goals. Role KPIs Month end deadline: management accounts and group reporting are completed on time as per timetable, ensuring all material variances are explained. Month end accuracy: Month end working papers complete & accurate, measured by number of review points flagged. Reporting compliance: Manage reporting to funders & landlords ensuring 100% compliance VAT compliance: VAT returns are accurate and made on time, ensuring 100% compliance. Cashflow reporting: Weekly cashflow updates and monthly cashflow reporting, ensuring material variances are explained and completed on time as per timetable.
