Who we are:
Learning Disability Network London is a charity which supports adults and children with learning disabilities and their families across London. We provide a range of support, from a few hours a week up to round-the clock care.
Our services include supported living, domiciliary care, outreach, short breaks, family, and community support. We help people we support and their families to choose what’s right for them.
We believe that every person with a learning disability has the right to stay healthy, be safe and live well, and have access to the same opportunities as everyone else.
About the role:
The Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for the efficient operation, planning and development of the Health, Safety and Fire Safety systems across LDN London, ensuring that these functions are carried out to nationally agreed and recognised standards for the benefit of those we support, visitors and staff.
The Health and Safety Advisor provides leadership, ensuring that Health and Safety is high on LDN London’s agenda and that it is embedded in its day-to-day operation delivery. The postholder co-ordinates, helps, advises, and supports, provides regular management and team briefings on health and safety, fire prevention and procedures, and reviews risk assessment findings at departmental level and meetings.
We are looking for someone who has a good understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities and can work collaboratively to achieve our goals. The ideal candidate will be able to self-motivate and work independently whilst keeping in line with LDN London’s values.
About you:
The ideal candidate will be a well organised person with the ability to deliver successful outcomes. You will be confident at building relationships and hold excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate who can:
Flexibility: No two weeks will be the same in this role, so we need someone who can adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Excellent Communication Skills: You’ll be interacting with staff, people with learning disabilities, and external professionals, so confidence and clarity in communication are essential.
Commitment to Safety: You’ll be responsible for providing guidance, support, and advice on all fire, health and safety matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Collaborative Spirit: Working closely with our Director of Quality and Compliance, you’ll help implement and monitor LDN London’s Health and Safety policy.
Qualifications: Holding a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent is preferred, but we’re also open to candidates willing to undertake this qualification.
Why join us:
In return, we offer a supportive work environment, flexible working arrangements with a hybrid model of home and office-based work, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we support.
We offer continuing opportunities for learning and development together with regular supervisions and support for all our staff. We offer:
the opportunity to work flexibly
up to 38 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
a generous pension scheme
season ticket loans
family friendly policies and personal/professional development packages
If you’re ready for your next challenge and want to contribute to meaningful change, we would love to hear from you. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need any assistance or adjustments to make the application process work for you. Join us in our mission to ensure that every person with a learning disability has the right to stay healthy, be safe, and live well.
