About The Role We are seeking an enthusiastic Homeless Assessment Manager within Islington’s Housing Needs Service, which is part of the council’s Homes and Neighbourhoods department. In this senior role you will responsible for: - ensuring the robust assessment of all homeless applicants to the council including timely decisions on Part 7 housing applications - making decisions on the provision of emergency temporary accommodation - working in close partnership multiple housing teams, social care and legal services - placing residents at the heart of everything you do ensuring compassion in all interactions Reporting to the Assistant Director of Housing Needs, you will be managing up to a maximum of seven officers who deliver the homeless assessment service. To ensure success in this role, you will need to possess advance skills to working collaboratively with Heads of Services, other Service Managers within the department and a broad range of stakeholders from across a multi-agency partnership. You would be expected to lead with confidence and assertiveness, demonstrating flexibility and openness to change, and promoting an organisational culture that empowers and involves staff and the community as a whole. This post also involves being on duty on a 6-7 week basis for a full week as the out of hours homeless manager.
