About the Role
The Intelligence and Analysis Officer will be based within the Intelligence and Analysis Team of the Greater London Authority's London Resilience Unit. Working closely with blue light partners and the London Situational Awareness Team, you will monitor real-time events and information feeds to produce high-quality intelligence-led briefings on unfolding events impacting London. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the centre of London’s day-to-day management, providing insight and analysis to key decision makers within one of London’s leading blue light partners.
You will be responsible for identifying, processing, analysing, and comprehending critical information, turning it into actionable intelligence that shapes responses to critical and major events and incidents. The role requires sound judgement on sensitive issues with awareness of wider political and media implications. Excellent customer focus, communication skills, and a desire to deliver lasting impact are essential. Experience in policy, crisis management, intelligence analysis, or operational work is desirable.
The role involves weekend working on a rotating basis and qualifies for an unsociable hours allowance. Post holders must be willing to undergo National Security Vetting to the level of Security Cleared and Metropolitan Police Non-Police Personnel Vetting, requiring five years UK residency.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within the office of a blue light partner on a rotating basis to produce high-quality situation reports that keep the pan-London multi-agency partnership updated on emerging risks and incidents.
- Support the London Resilience Unit in producing analytically robust, credible, timely, and high-quality reports in response to taskings and proactively as events dictate.
- Identify capabilities and methodologies to increase team effectiveness.
- Conduct duties in line with asset, information, and protective security policies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of GLA’s crisis response capability through doctrine, training, exercising, and lessons learnt.
- Maintain awareness of relevant legislative and national policy changes applicable to operational functions.
Experience
- Experience of open-source monitoring and analysis, collection methodologies, and the ability to formulate and deliver robust predictive or deductive assessments.
- Experience producing high-quality situation reports in time-sensitive environments, ideally within emergency response, resilience, political, or event management settings.
- Understanding of current affairs, international relations, and their impact on London.
- Knowledge of information management principles and data assurance legislation and their application.
- Proven ability to provide professional advice to decision makers and staff at all levels on complex and sensitive issues.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining working relationships and partnerships across professional and operational boundaries.
- Ability to work weekends as part of a rotating pattern.
