About SOLS:Across Solicitor's Office and Legal Services (SOLS) we provide legal services to the whole of HMRC. This includes:The conduct of independent reviews of decisions made by HMRC which are requested by customers under the legislative provisions.The conduct of tribunal and civil litigation on a full range of services.Work on new legislation.Drafting of statutory instruments and other legal documents.Legal advice to ExCom and staff.We also provide technical accountancy and forensic services to HMRC, are head of the Compliance Accountants’ and Insolvency Professions as well as handling Ministerial Correspondence and Freedom of Information requests for HMRC.The Team: The Knowledge Management (KM) and Library team sits within the People & Professionalism function which is part of the Legal Operations and Business Transformation directorate. This new role will join the KM team, headed by the G6 Knowledge Lead. We are a small team of 7, responsible for the delivery of KM across SOLS. KM is a priority project under the SOLS Strategy reporting into the Quality and Professionalism Board and SOLS Senior Leadership Team. The KM team is responsible for setting the KM Strategy for 1500 people across SOLS. Our strategic aim is to deliver an improved, modern, fit for purpose KM function to enhance SOLS’ professionalism. The ability to easily find, make sense of and build upon key knowledge is central to this aim. Can you balance the needs of multiple stakeholders and build good relationships and knowledge networks across SOLS and the wider HMRC? If so, you could be just the person we would love to join our team.Summary of the Role You will be responsible for the ongoing design and management of the SOLS KM SharePoint site including:Site design:Maintaining and developing the design and content structure and understanding how different content fits together.Ensuring end-users experience a streamlined and logical structure to assist their navigation.Balancing the requirements/interests of content owners ensuring a consistent approach.Understanding our metadata and taxonomies and ensuring these are applied and managed. Management of site:You will be the single point of contact for new and existing content creators and owners from SOLS legal, technical and operational teams, advising and helping create pages and ways of effectively displaying content.Ensuring an appropriate content life cycle process is in place for the creation and management of new and existing content (i.e., ensuring content owners keep their KM content relevant, up to date, clear and easily accessible.)Anticipating and working within a changing environment. Job Description:We are looking for someone who will be working as part of the wider SOLS KM team: Responsibility for content management processes and working with content creators and owners to understand their knowledge requirements and present content effectively.Ensuring all relevant legal, technical and operational content is surfaced to end-users in the right place, in the best possible format, and on the right platform.Developing and maintaining KM policies, guidance, and training for users.Building long-lasting relationships and networks across SOLS, such as chairing a content owner group.Creating and manage KM Team content.Analysing data to evaluate content usage and informing future decisions.Potential line management responsibilities. About You: The ideal candidate will demonstrate evidence of the following: Using design and analytical skills to create user-centric content that is clear, concise, accessible and meaningful. Ability to identify and understand user needs, making decisions autonomously and understanding when to escalate to KM SLT.Explaining content design decisions in a way that stakeholders and the team can understand.Working with users to achieve, and improve on, the overall quality of a system and being comfortable giving and receiving feedback.Adapting to changing priorities and workloads as and when needed.Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience of working in a Knowledge or Information Management role in a legal, technical or operational capacity.
