The Vacancy
Southwark College, part of NCG Group (a leading national provider of education and training) is looking to appoint a Looked After Children Coordinator to work in the Student Experience Team at the Southwark College site, close to Waterloo Station.
The post requires the successful candidate to be able to work closely with Southwark College colleagues, Local Authorities and outside agencies to improve the progress and outcomes of Southwark College students who are Looked After Children (LAC) (including unaccompanied asylum seekers) and Care Leavers (CL)
In this vital and rewarding role, you will be working to improve the educational attainment of Southwark College students who are Looked After Children (LAC) (including unaccompanied asylum seekers) and Care Leavers.
This will include delivering 1 to 1 and small group pastoral support, mentoring, advocacy and challenge to Looked After Children (LAC) and Care Leavers (CL), on both a planned and responsive basis.
It will also involve leading on the review process for Looked After Children (LAC) (including unaccompanied asylum seekers) and Care Leavers (CL) with Personal Education Plans (PEPs) ensuring compliance with statutory timelines, linking in with curriculum staff and external agencies as required
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong organisation skills. You will be able to confidently communicate with parents and carers, alongside external agencies such as Local Authorities.
