Logistics Advisor - Global Surge Team Location: Remote working, flexible across the UK with deployment up to 75% of the year (Home or International) Contract type: 2 year Fixed Term Contract Hours: 35 hours per week (typically Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm) Salary: £42,923 (this includes £6,000 market supplement) per annum Are you skilled and experienced in the area of Logistics in an international humanitarian context? The British Red Cross is recruiting a logistics specialist to join our Global Surge Team. Your expertise will provide immediate technical capacity to field operations. You will increase our capacity to provide logistical assistance at short notice during any stage of the Disaster Management Cycle. This is done through a combination of operational deployments and capacity building activities. This role is vital to the Red Cross and therefore essential to helping people in crisis. Are you up for the challenge? A Day in the life of a Global Surge Logistics Advisor In this demanding (but rewarding) role no two days are the same. But some of the typical activities you'll be involved in might include: Provide technical logistics support for response, recovery, and capacity building operations, including developing logistics plans and managing operations either in the field or remotely. Determine, implement, monitor, and review logistics strategies and plans, proactively scheduling and managing the supply chain and logistics support. Supervise and direct procurement systems in coordination with Regional Logistics Units, zone offices, or country/regional/headquarter offices. Facilitate or support organizational capacity-building activities in logistics, contributing to training curriculum revision or development, and offering mentoring support to BRC delegates and staff as needed. This role might be for you if... Comfortable with remote work involving overseas travel for up to 3 months at a time. Ready to deploy quickly to countries facing natural disasters or crisis events. Confident in complex, multi-cultural work environments. Experienced in full-spectrum logistics activities, from assessment to implementing logistics support, procurement, contracting, and more. Knowledgeable about humanitarian responses, actors, and the impact of evidence-based decision-making on humanitarian action.
