What you'll be doing Reporting into the Marketing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading on the marketing strategy for Octopus paperback publications, as well as creating your own exciting book campaigns. You’ll work alongside the Marketing Director to create impactful and measurable marketing strategies for Octopus’s growing list of narrative non-fiction, bringing your market awareness to help drive our titles to become bestsellers. You’ll own Octopus’s Netgalley strategy, selecting titles and activity for this channel across the Octopus list. You’ll also be putting together effective on and off-line title and brand campaigns across the breadth of the Octopus list with the focus on narrative non-fiction and also including celebrity non-fiction, bestselling cookery and Octopus’s newly-established small but mighty fiction list. You’ll be working closely with your publicity counterpart on each campaign, and with the broader Octopus team across communications, sales and editorial. Who we are looking for You’ll succeed in this role if you are excited about the idea of connecting books with readers through impactful marketing activity across the full media mix. You’ll be market-focussed with high commercial awareness, particularly passionate about the possibilities of narrative non-fiction, and always working to budget and to deadline. You’ll be highly collaborative, a strong relationship builder and a confident communicator. And you’ll be someone who seizes new opportunities and optimises activity to ensure that your marketing campaigns consistently drive sales and brand awareness.
