The VacancyThe Mayor’s Skills Academies have been created to help the hospitality industry as well as those Londoners hardest hit by the pandemic, supporting them into good work, such as direct employment, apprenticeships, traineeships, or self-employment/freelance work, and to aid the recovery and the long-term economic growth of hospitality and London.Lewisham College's Hospitality Hub is part of the Mayor of London’s Skills Academies, working with employers in the industry to provide skills and work-based training programmes, and helping to recruit Londoners into a career in hospitality. Lewisham College also offers a wide range of training and support to help people get into work.The Mayor’s Skills Academies has been created to help overcome barriers into employment and raise the awareness of the great opportunities and careers in the hospitality industry.The Hospitality Hub is a centre of information about the industry and a place for employers to come together to tackle the real barriers faced by recent events. It partners with organisations representing the industry and works with them on short-term and long-term plans to raise the profile of the industry, promote it as a great career choice and make the hospitality sector more inclusiveThe Mayors Academy Events Officer will support with all of the innovative and creative marketing associated with the Hospitality Hub. This will include organising events such as job fairs, employer networking events, internal stakeholder meetings, and attending external events. The role will require someone who is well adapted to liaising with both high and low level stakeholders and Hub employers, ensuring that we continue to maintain our professional and forward thinking reputation. The Mayors Academy Events Officer will lead on campaigns and the creation of flyers, leaflets, organising merchandise, attendee lists, catering, and event support. They will work closely with the Employment and Skills team and the wider college to ensure the all of the Hospitality Hub targets are met. The successful candidate will have experience of working within a marketing department, organising events, leading campaigns, and representing the company at internal and external events. The will have a marketing qualification and have an in depth knowledge of new trends and social media.
