About the Role
Join Synnovis, the UK’s leading and fastest growing pathology company, working in partnership with Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, King’s College Hospital, and Princess Royal University Hospital. This Band 4 Medical Secretary role is based within the Histopathology department, supporting clinical and scientific teams who provide vital diagnostic services for the NHS. The role is office-based and patient-focused, offering the satisfaction of contributing to patient care by assisting expert histology and pathology clinicians.

The post-holder will coordinate multi-disciplinary meetings (MDMs) by managing patient lists, assigning laboratory case numbers using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), retrieving relevant cases, and liaising with clinical teams and medical staff to ensure timely and accurate preparation for MDMs. You will also support the day-to-day administrative and secretarial functions, including transcription, correspondence, maintaining Health and Safety and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and general office duties.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a modernising pathology service, transitioning towards a state-of-the-art Hub laboratory in central London, while currently based at hospital sites. You will be part of a collaborative team delivering high-quality pathology services across South East London.

Requirements

Qualifications
- Good all-round education to GCSE standard including English and Maths at grade 4/C or equivalent
- LCCI private secretary’s certificate, Diploma, AMSPAR or equivalent

Experience
- Experience working as a Medical Secretary in a team environment
- Scheduling and minuting meetings, dictation, and providing medical transcription services
- Operating Laboratory Information Management and Electronic Patient Records systems
- Proficient with computer applications such as Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable Experience
- Training and supervising junior secretarial and administrative staff
- Organising, supervising, and monitoring workflow within an administrative environment
