Description
Are you looking for a sense of purpose in your job? Would you like to support people who have experienced homelessness and addiction?
Being an assertive outreach worker is varied and rewarding work. It also gives invaluable insight into health and social care systems for anyone looking to go into public health and policy work.
The Role
We are looking for self-motivated, dynamic, driven individuals, who are committed to providing assertive outreach in the community to engage or re-engage the homeless population into wellbeing services and drug and alcohol treatment. You will work independently, but also part of a supportive team:
• Deliver street-based interventions.
• Street-based needs assessments/harm reduction advice – including Naloxone distribution.
• Develop robust pathways between existing homeless and outreach service/housing services.
• Support Opiate users with rapid prescribing access with use of virtual prescribing clinics.
• To deliver drug and alcohol training to partner services.
• Flexible working patterns.
Skills
The main purpose of the role is to provide excellent quality/support with strong communication skills as you will be providing care to people who use our services who may be mentally unwell, have experienced trauma and who have struggled to engage with mainstream services.
Direct experience in substance misuse is not mandatory, although you must be able to learn on the job and be willing to undertake training.
Language skills in Romanian, Lithuanian or Russian are not mandatory but would be desirable.
Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Via we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
The Service
Via Rough Sleepers Projects is an integrated community service which offers Intensive Recovery Outreach and Dedicated Support to Rough Sleepers in Camden & Islington. The project provides coordinated and wrap around care to rough sleepers/street active individuals with substance misuse issues. The service consists of both clinical and psychosocial elements and is CQC registered to provide a range of interventions including BBV and health interventions, OST, and community detox.
(Camden/Islington) This is a great opportunity to be involved with the delivery of a dynamic service and finding the most effective and creative ways to engage with service users with multiple and often complex needs. You will work as part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary outreach team to offer person centred support, and engagement into treatment.
For an informal discussion about the position please contact Patricia Ballard, Team Manager on 0300 303 4545 or [email protected]
The closing date for applications is Sunday 14 April 2024 at midnight.
