About the Role
We are looking for a Personal Assistant for a 33-year-old man with various difficulties including ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), epilepsy, and challenging behaviours. The PA’s responsibilities include assisting with daily life tasks such as personal care (toileting, clothing, washing), home assistance (meal preparation, laundry, cleaning), and community access (support when out in the community, dog walking). A suitable candidate must be comfortable with dogs and enjoy outdoor activities, particularly walking. Candidates should also be comfortable swimming in a pool with a depth of 1.3m. The main priority is ensuring a good fit for the individual’s social and emotional needs. Working hours will align with his routine, including various shifts such as weekends, evenings, and waking night shifts. Flexibility is essential, and additional shifts may be available for holiday cover. Personal Assistants are required to maintain a detailed diary log of their shifts, including incidents and daily tasks, which must be submitted within 24 hours of completing a shift.
Experience
Experience with ASD and learning difficulties is desirable but not essential.
About you
Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality, reliable with good timekeeping, able to follow instructions and work on own initiative, hygienic, tidy, and well-organized. Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties, patient with excellent interpersonal skills, honest, cheerful, creative, and able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard. Must be comfortable with pets and social activities such as swimming (pool depth 1.3m).
Qualifications
Full UK Drivers Licence is required as driving is part of this role. Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours. Vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission.
