About the Role
This role is to support a woman who is gentle and kind. She enjoys going out when she is feeling well and at home, she listens to music (her passion) and watches television. Some time is spent in a local music studio where she sings and learns to produce and edit material. However, like many young adults, she can struggle with daily tasks and needs guidance. Most support involves prompting and encouraging her to manage her dietary intake, hygiene, and keeping her room tidy. When her mood is low, these tasks can be particularly challenging. Additionally, she has Asperger's, which can complicate her ability to recognize healthy friendships. Support in managing these challenges, along with life admin and money management, is essential. A calm, patient, and gentle Personal Assistant would be a good fit for our family.

Duties include:
Domestic Tasks:
- Prompt and assist with laundry (unloading/loading the washing machine, tumble dryer/washing line, ironing, putting away)
- Changing bed linen
- Bed making
- General tidying and cleaning in her room (including dusting and vacuuming)
- Taking out rubbish/recycling
- Preparing drinks, snacks, and meals
- Shopping
- Correspondence (reading letters, writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork)
- Making phone calls on behalf of the employer when unwell
Personal Tasks:
- Promoting and encouraging personal hygiene (washing/showering/bathing, including hair care)
- Skin and hair care
- Brushing teeth
Social Tasks:
- Support and accompany to the music studio, run errands, shop, and visit family/friends
- Promote and maintain healthy friendships and recognize unhealthy behaviors

Experience
Some understanding or experience of supporting people with autism is desirable.

Notes
If successful, you will be engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on suitability and agreement with the employer. If employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
