I am seeking a proactive and compassionate Personal Assistant Support Worker to provide support to a 43-year-old man with disabilities resulting from a traumatic head injury in childhood. This individual has epilepsy, short-term memory loss, and visual impairment and is looking for support to enhance his independence and engagement within the community Candidate qualities: • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality • Reliable with good timekeeping • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative • Hygienic, tidy and well organised • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills • Honest and cheerful • Creative • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety Other Personal Qualities: • Proven experience working with adults with cognitive or learning disabilities. • Understanding and patient approach, with a drive to empower the client. Employee Duties: • Other relevant duties as required • Administration • Transportation • Companionship Additional duties: • Support the client in engaging with the community through activities such as music events, basketball, go-karting, and more. • Help manage daily activities, promoting independence rather than just providing care. • Assist in documenting activities in a memory book, which helps cope with his memory loss. • Develop a structured weekly and monthly activity schedule that fosters social interaction, independence, and enjoyment, keeping in mind the budget constraints.
