Description
When meeting us, you’ll quickly discover that the best thing about the Association of British Insurers is the people. We’re hugely proud that 98% of our people think individual differences are respected and we are empowered to bring our whole self to work without fear of judgment. We work at the forefront of policy development - helping to get things right before they are implemented and ironing out bumps where they are identified in existing rules. If that sounds like your sort of culture, read on to find out how you can join us. We’re looking for a Policy Adviser to join our Conduct Regulation team. Your role will be working on the development of conduct regulation policy. Fundamentally, Conduct Regulation is about ensuring insurers are run well, and that consumers get good-value products to help them go about their daily lives with confidence. You’ll help shape the UK’s conduct regulation of the insurance industry that allows insurers to grow, compete and innovate. This is a fast-paced, busy role and you’ll need to work effectively as part of a team to deliver our priorities. We are open to flexible, part time and/or job share working – please let us know if this would be your preference. We work in a hybrid way with at least 40% of time in the office. Our team is made up of people who are new to insurance, those who are highly experienced, and everyone in-between, so we welcome people from all industry backgrounds. What’s the job? Formulate and communicate persuasive policy positions that promote the interests of insurers in relation to conduct regulation issues. Lead and contribute to policy development work with our members. Monitor the development of FCA and FOS initiatives in coordination with your colleagues. Lead the ABI’s approach to specific FCA and Government policy projects. Work with colleagues to help shape the regulatory landscape. Bring your regulatory expertise to work with colleagues in the Policy teams to develop our policies and member offer on insurance issues. Actively develop and maintain relationships with a network of key contacts including member companies, FCA, CMA, and the FOS, Government, other trade associations and consumer organisations. What skills are we looking for? Ability to understand complex policy issues and risks – you can get up to speed quickly with the technical detail. Organisation – you’re able to work at pace and manage a number of complex work areas independently. An analytical mind – you use evidence to back up your decisions. Excellent communication and relationship management skills – you know how to approach stakeholders of all levels and backgrounds. Demonstrable lobbying skills – you can influence and persuade senior people in member firms, Government, regulators and elsewhere. Effective presentation skills – you know how to tailor you message to your audience. We encourage you to apply, even if you don’t have all the skills above right now. Throughout the interview and assessment process, we will be looking for you to demonstrate our values; We are Brave; We take Ownership; We are Appreciative; We are Human and We are Curious. Inclusion matters to us We welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds and we run our application process a bit differently – we don’t assess based on your CV. We’ll ask application questions which are relevant to the role and the skills we need to ensure our process is fair, inclusive and everyone has equal opportunity to demonstrate their suitability. We are proud to be a Disability Confident employer and are committed to making adjustments to help you perform at your best in our recruitment process. Additionally, where practicable, we offer an interview to disabled candidates who meet the minimum requirements for a role.
