We work in a hybrid way with at least 40% of time in the office. We’re looking for a Policy Assistant to join our General Insurance team. You’ll have some focus on fraud and financial crime (which also covers life, health and long-term savings), but also support the wider team on a variety of general insurance issues covering everything from motor, to pet, to cyber. We welcome people who are new to insurance (most of us were when we joined!) – as well as those with experience. What’s the job? Provide research and analysis to help formulate persuasive policy positions. Prepare drafts of policy papers and summary documents and contribute to policy development work. Prepare responses to enquiries from Members of Parliament, consumer groups and the public on general insurance matters. Co-ordinate the team’s newsletters and keep relevant sections of our website up to date. Attend, participate and complete admin for Committees and working groups Write briefing notes for the Director General and Director of General Insurance Policy on relevant policy issues. Provide organisational support and coordination for team-wide processes and projects. What skills do you need? Making the technical accessible – you can summarise information in a way that is accessible for everyone. Teamwork – you work proactively with others and are willing to help your colleagues. Efficiency – organisation and high attention to detail come naturally to you. Communication – your written communication is of a high standard and you have a good sense of how to build and manage your working relationships. Curiosity – you might not have even thought of working in policy before, but you’re keen to develop knowledge on insurance issues.
