We are looking for two positive behaviour support workers to join our Beverley Lewis House team, providing a person-centred support service for women with learning disabilities, mental health and/or autism who are fleeing domestic abuse or harm.
At L&Q Living, we believe that being a caring person who shares our values and likes helping others is far more important than experience. Some of our best support workers have come straight from college, university or from other sectors such as customer service. If you possess the right attitude and values, we will provide the necessary training.
Beverley Lewis House is the only safe house in the country for women with learning disabilities. It has won two national awards and appeared on Channel 4’s Dispatches show as an example of good practice. It is also part of a service that is rated Outstanding by CQC. We are looking for passionate and energetic people to join our team and to help us maintain the excellent reputation that this scheme has gained.
The scheme only supports six women so this means that you will have plenty of time to carry out productive and meaningful work. Only one person receives personal care so most of the role involves helping people to live independently whilst recovering from trauma. To help you carry out this work, you will be supported by an on-site manager, positive behaviour support (PBS) practitioner and life skills coach. You will be provided with extensive training on PBS interventions such as how to spot the things that might trigger someone who has experienced abuse and how to intervene. You will be trained on understanding each person’s PBS plan so you can help them to live well and be part of their local community.
Want to work at an award-winning, outstanding rated service?
Want to wake up everyday knowing that you are keeping women with learning disabilities free from harm or abuse?
Tired of working at a service where all you seem to do is deliver personal care?
Ready to start a new job after qualifying from college or university?
If you have answered yes to any of the questions above, we think you should apply for this position.
No two days are the same at Beverley Lewis House, but every day is as rewardable as the previous one. One day you could be supporting someone to visit the pub, cinema or restaurant and the next day you could be providing emotional support to someone who is having a bad day.
It is important that you have good writing skills because, after training, you will be required to write daily notes, support plans and risk assessments. It is also vital that you have excellent communication skills because the women that you will be supporting have been through trauma, so it is important that you are empathetic and compassionate.
As a requirement of the role you will be working on a rota basis that includes some weekends, early mornings, afternoon shifts, nights, and sleep ins.
The ideal candidate will be someone who shares our values:
People - We care about the happiness and wellbeing of our customers and employees.
Passion - We approach everything with energy, determination and enthusiasm.
Inclusion - We draw strength from our differences and work collaboratively.
Responsibility - We own problems and deliver effective, lasting solutions.
Impact - We measure what we do by the difference we make.
Knowledge of the client group is required but this could have been gained at college or university. This isn’t just any job. This is a job where you can make a real difference and have a clear career path into management. Joining a large housing association also means that if you fancy a change of direction you can apply for positions across the organisation.

We are committed to paying our staff the Real Living Wage.
Free training up to diploma level 5
We offer excellent benefits including 21 days annual leave, pension scheme and non-contributory life assurance, season ticket loan, employee discount scheme and a health and wellbeing program.
You will have access to our values award bonus scheme for demonstrating how you embed our values. If you go way and beyond, we will reward you with a spot bonus of up to £1000
You will also be joining an organisation where 78% of our staff told us it’s a great place to work (2022) and 92% of staff told us their manager treats them with respect
The opportunity to grow your career with us or other departments within our business
If you are interested in this role and share our values, then apply without delay!
