Duration of Contract: 1 year from start date Hours per week: 35 hours per week (Full Time) Closing Date: 23rd June 2024 Job Details Under the leadership of Professor Axel Behrens, we are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and creative molecular biologist with a strong background in cancer biology Training Fellow to join the Cancer Stem Cell team. The goal of the project is to use advanced genetic cancer mouse models and and patient-derived human cancer organoids to apply their cancer biology skills to elucidate mechanisms of cancer stem cell biology and metastasis, with the ultimate aim to develop novel cancer therapeutics. Key Requirements The successful candidate must have PhD or equivalent in molecular biology/biochemistry, substantial research experience in cancer biology and and considerable experience in working with cancer cells, organoids and in vivo cancer models. The ICR has a workforce agreement stating that Postdoctoral Training Fellows can only be employed for up to 7 years as PDTF at the ICR, providing total postdoctoral experience (including previous employment at this level elsewhere) does not exceed 10 years Department/Directorate Information: The Cancer Stem Cell team, led by Professor Axel Behrens uses a combination of sophisticated genetics and human cancer organoids to understand the biology of cancer. The Division of Breast Cancer Research within the Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre at the ICR is the first centre in the UK entirely devoted to breast cancer research. Our goal is to advance research into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. It is located in state-of-the-art laboratory space, with excellent core facilities and is funded through a long-term renewable programme grant from Breast Cancer Now.
