Principal Engineer
Location
Hybrid – Slough, Maple Lodge and Didcot.
Hours
36 hours a week - Monday to Friday.
Salary
£52,000 to £80,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Thames Water seeks an experienced Principal Engineer to lead and build a world-class technical team and modernise key Water Treatment Works across our water network. This is a unique opportunity to work on projects up to a £300 million infrastructure programme, driving cutting-edge engineering solutions that will shape the future of water treatment. As a Principal Engineer, you will plan the design activities for a small portfolio of projects, manage and monitor these activities to meet or outperform project milestones and allocated budgets, and ensure technical assurance of detailed designs by contractors. You will also provide technical support during commissioning and handover of assets, conduct health and safety inspections, and build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Experience
We are seeking an individual with a degree in civil or mechanical engineering, or other engineering disciplines. Hold a chartered status or be working towards it. Have a background in managing successful, relevant activities, e.g., capital projects. You will be experienced in delivering high-quality work with an excellent customer focus.
About you
Demonstrate capability with risk-based and analytical decision-making, using excellent verbal and written skills, along with exceptional interpersonal skills. You will have knowledge and experience in delivering major engineering infrastructure projects up to £100m in value in an infrastructure regulatory environment. Have a background in people management and leading a team.
Qualifications
Successful candidates should hold a valid driving licence and have access to personal transportation. This role comes with a £5,800 annual car allowance.
