About the Role
The Palace of Westminster is an iconic building, an international landmark, home of the UK Parliament and a workplace for thousands. It sits at the heart of the UNESCO Westminster World Heritage Site and requires significant restoration and renewal work.
The Programme and Assurance Director is a strategic leadership role within the Restoration and Renewal (R&R) programme. You will manage the complex relationship between the R&R Client Team, as programme sponsor, and the independent Delivery Authority alongside other Parliamentary teams. This involves working within intricate governance structures that align Parliamentary aspirations with programme delivery realities.
Your leadership will be critical in navigating operational demands, leading the development of integrated delivery plans across multiple organisations, guiding cross-functional teams within the R&R programme community, and establishing rigorous assurance frameworks. You will shape broader strategic direction, drive major change initiatives, and represent the programme to senior stakeholders.
The R&R Client Team is a joint department of the House of Commons and House of Lords, operating from the House of Commons.
Experience
- Extensive programme management experience in large, complex delivery environments.
- Deep understanding of construction and engineering programmes.
- Proven ability to develop assurance strategies in politically sensitive contexts.
- Strong programme finance expertise including forecasting, monitoring multi-million pound spend, and identifying financial risks.
- Experience working within politically sensitive frameworks while protecting programme delivery outcomes.

Qualifications
