About the Role
United Colleges Group (UCG) is seeking an experienced and motivated Recruitment Manager to lead our recruitment function and ensure the timely and effective attraction, selection, and onboarding of high-quality staff across all areas of the college. You will manage a team of HR Administrators and Coordinators and act as the key liaison with Payroll to ensure a smooth transition for new starters from recruitment through to employment.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end-to-end recruitment process, advising managers on job descriptions and adverts, coordinating interviews, offers, pre-employment checks, and onboarding. You will ensure all recruitment activity reflects best practice in safer recruitment, complies with legislation, and supports our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

You will build and maintain strong relationships with external partners such as recruitment agencies, advertising platforms, and sector networks, ensuring cost-effective use of agency staff and developing sustainable talent pipelines. Additionally, you will develop and deliver the college’s recruitment strategy aligned with workforce planning and budget requirements.

Monitoring recruitment trends, providing regular reports to senior management, and continuously improving systems, processes, and candidate experience will be key responsibilities. You will also provide expert training and guidance to managers on recruitment best practice and the effective use of recruitment systems.

Representing the college externally at careers fairs and sector events will help position United Colleges Group as an employer of choice.

Requirements

Experience
Substantial experience in recruitment and resourcing is essential. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and work confidently with recruitment agencies, monitoring spend and delivering value for money.

About you
Highly organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to engage colleagues at all levels and deliver a positive, professional HR service. Strong IT skills, including experience with HR systems such as iTrent, and the ability to handle confidential data responsibly.
