About the Role
The Rent & Service Charge Analyst will assist in providing an efficient rent and service charge accounting service. This role involves coordinating the charging and collection of service charges to ensure Value for Money (VfM) while maximizing income recovery, including through legal processes when necessary. The Analyst will provide highly accurate data analysis and support the Rent and Service Charge Manager in decision-making. You will be part of a proactive team that offers expert advisory services related to service charges, impacting the strategic outcomes of the business.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Ensure the accuracy of service cost/charge data, investigate variances to budget, and provide necessary analysis for timely management information.
2. Maintain details of freeholders/third-party managing agents and process invoices from management and utility companies to minimize costs.
3. Calculate annual service charge budgets, rents, and year-end accounts in accordance with Group policy and legislative requirements.
4. Monitor sinking funds to ensure adequate funds for major works.
5. Liaise with Property Services on planned and reactive works, ensuring compliance with Section 20 processes.
6. Set service charge budgets for new schemes in a timely manner.
7. Provide an efficient service charging system, ensuring accurate data processing and meeting deadlines.
8. Prepare for and manage relevant audits.
9. Support the Revenue Team in resolving disputes on leasehold, shared ownership, and general needs rent and service charges.
10. Champion VfM by monitoring costs and maximizing income.
11. Ensure customers receive quality information regarding their charges in line with regulations.
12. Assist the Rent and Service Charge Manager with formal complaint responses.
13. Handle incoming enquiries and refer as appropriate, ensuring positive outcomes.
14. Undertake tasks for other teams within the Finance & IT Directorate as required.
15. Provide training and support to colleagues in other departments for effective collaboration.

Experience
Previous experience in rent and service charge accounting is preferred but not essential. A strong analytical mindset and attention to detail are crucial.

Qualifications
