What does a Resource Centre Support Worker do at Hillingdon?
Join our team at The Queens walk Resource centre as a Resource centre support worker and you’ll be part of a team who are committed to changing the lives of the men and women with complex learning and physical care needs who attend across the week.
Working in this modern purpose-built Resource Centre in Ruislip we are proud to offer an outstanding facility to each service user in the heart of the community. Every part of what we do is person-centred, all our activities and group sessions make an impact on each of our service users through the care we give. We are a skilled staff team who use a range of therapeutic interventions to support the individual in all aspects of their care across the week. We enable the men and women attending our centre to access a range of bespoke equipment to increase independence, choice, and opportunity. We have a multi-faceted approach to all our sessions and we use of all the equipment to provide high quality direct care focusing on meeting needs through individual and group sessions . Our team set personal outcomes and explore individual wishes with service users and their families to allow them to achieve a strength-based approach to their care. Care support is reviewed on a yearly basis with families and the muti disciplinary teams in Hillingdon.
As a team member you will run sessions across the whole centre for instance, in our fully equipped sensory room or in our garden plots. You will get the opportunity to be trained in our hydrotherapy pool to support and give freedom to many of our service users with a physical disability.
At Queens Walk we embrace the Resource Centre model for integration into the local community and inclusion into a wider society with visits out locally to the parks on foot or on the bus . Our groups will shop and cook and prepare meals encouraging healthy living exploring the senses with sensory food sessions offered to all . We have a range of inclusive music & art sessions , dance & fitness sessions, sports and exercise . We offer access to IT programmes in our interactive sessions which are supported with the most up to date programmes to engage and improve our service users lives. Everyone in the team has a vital role to play and are a massive part of the care we give. We celebrate everyone’s background with cultural and central events and invite families to join us across the year . The centre is operational Monday to Friday 8am-4.30pm and provides social, educational, health and leisure-based programmes, personalised to each individual need. We make an impact on each of our service users through the care we give.
Amongst the friendly atmosphere here, you’ll always have support around you – whether from your manager and senior team and other agencies we all work together. It’s a close-knit service because we all share the common goal of improving people’s daily lives.
We’ll always encourage you to develop and your time with us here comes with continual learning and development, beginning with induction and supervision and yearly appraisals . We’ll provide paid training in other relevant areas and you’ll receive comprehensive training, as well as many other learning opportunities helping you develop as a person.
About you
We are looking for a motivated team player with good communication and interpersonal skills. You will be able to engage effectively with service users, providing them with support and opportunities meeting their needs in a person-centred way. You will also be creative and will take an enthusiastic approach ensuring service users fully participate in the sessions and activities you facilitate whilst treating service users with dignity and respect.
