About the Role
You will manage the retirement housing scheme Mary Webster House in Camden, which comprises 14 flats for residents over 65 years of age who are semi-independent. This role requires someone who genuinely cares about and understands the issues affecting vulnerable people and the elderly. Regular social activities include coffee mornings.
As Scheme Manager, you will work closely with and support the Retirement Housing Manager to deliver a high-quality service. Although predominantly lone working, you will be part of a wider team of Scheme Managers providing excellent housing services to older people across Chelmsford, Barnet, Finchley, Camden, and Hertfordshire.
This rewarding and exciting position involves building relationships and trust both internally within the Origin team and with residents.
Your responsibilities will include acting as the main point of contact for residents and their families, writing and reviewing reports, completing risk assessments, responding to emergency situations via the Warden Call system during daytime hours, ensuring all Health & Safety policies and procedures are maintained, promptly reporting and following up on communal repairs, and carrying out regular scheme and estate inspections including fire alarm tests and fire safety inspections.
Experience
- Experience working with vulnerable adults in a semi-independent housing service
- Strong understanding of the needs of older people
- Sound knowledge of welfare benefits and health and safety procedures relevant to this type of service
- Experience supporting residents with benefit applications and queries, including making referrals for additional welfare advice and support
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment, preferably in the housing sector
