The purpose of the post is: To act as a College Designated Safeguarding Lead, delivering a frontline safeguarding response and provide intensive targeted support to students who are at serious risk of harm due to associated issues that may impact on their learning. To ensure effective utilisation of MyConcern, quality control and continuous improvement of safeguarding reporting in all aspects of this post and in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education and the College’s Safeguarding and Prevent policy. Develop effective relationships externally with professionals and stakeholders and deliver appropriate staff training, student workshops where appropriate. Person Specification Please study the items in this person specification carefully and when completing your application form try to describe your knowledge, skills and experience in terms of those particular items: 1. A relevant degree / professional qualification or a minimum of 3 years comparable experience. 2. GCSE equivalent with Grade 4 or above in English and maths. 3. Designated Safeguarding Officer training within the last 3 years. 4. Proven experience and understanding of child and adult protection procedures, referral processes and legislation. 5. Proven experience and understanding of Educational legislation in relation to safeguarding, child protection and PREVENT. 6. Proven experience of supporting and working with staff, young people and vulnerable adults. 7. Experience of planning and delivering training/events/group sessions to staff. 8. Experience of supporting a caseload of students with safeguarding concerns. 9. Proven experience of multiagency working. 10. Able to build and maintain effective relationships, particularly with young people. 11. Ability to form effective team working relationships with internal staff and external agencies. 12. Ability to collect and report data in a timely manner to allow qualitative and quantitate analysis of the quality of the service delivered, measuring impact and identifying priorities. 13. Effective written and verbal communication skills at all levels. 14. Ability to manage and prioritise own workload to ensure deadlines are met. 15. Effective listening skills and ability to identify individual needs.
