Background
Founded in 1999, SCL Education Group is one of the UK’s largest providers of education and skills training within the sports, leisure and dance and arts sector. Our delivery ranges from inspirational sports education and holiday clubs for school children, to providing further education to young people in our sporting academies as well as apprenticeships for adult learners across 100 industries nationally.
SCL have over 20 years’ experience in the industry and are on a journey to set the standard for education that truly inspires young people to succeed and helps current and future generations of professionals to unlock their potential. Safeguarding
As such, SCL want to ensure this is done with safety and wellbeing of the learners, children and adults at the heart of everything we do to have a maximum positive impact on their lives and this post has been created to sit within the Safeguarding and Health & Safety Directorate to further support the wider remit to minimize radicalization of children and adults, as outlined in the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015 (Statutory Guidance which came into force Sept 2023).
Main Purpose of the Role
To recognise and take seriously the duty of care to safeguard the wellbeing of children and adults who use SCL provision through a Prevent strategy and the commitment to ensure wider safeguarding practices reflect statutory responsibility and legislation and staff comply with best practice approaches.
This will be achieved through supporting SCL as an education provider with their obligations in relation to the PREVENT duty, by providing advice, guidance, and upskilling staff to understand localised risks and working with stakeholders to educate children and adults from being drawn into radicalisation to minimize risks to them.

The safety and welfare of children is paramount to SCL, all applicants will be subject to thorough background checks to ensure their suitability to work with children. These will include, but are not limited to, reference checks, police checks, DBS checks and qualification checks. This post is defined as regulated activity. The post holder is required to hold an enhanced DBS disclosure check deemed acceptable to the organisation and to be re-checked every 3 years
