Sales Development Representative - Beam for Companies
Beam
Description
Join a unique company that combines the excitement of working in a high-growth tech startup with the fulfilment of creating life-changing social impact
At Beam, you get to do work that really matters. We’re solving the world’s toughest social problems. And we’re growing fast 🚀
About the role
We’re looking for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our team and help grow the Beam for Companies platform. Launched earlier this year, Beam for Companies (BFC) is the easiest way for companies to make, measure and share their social impact.
By growing the number of companies and partners working with Beam, you’ll help to change the lives of thousands of disadvantaged people, including homeless people, refugees and prison leavers. See Beam’s impact online.
This is a hands-on role - and you’ll spend most of your time researching and executing on your pipeline. But there will also be the opportunity to take a lead on strategy and dabble in analytics, communications and finance – depending on your development interests.
You’ll be part of Beam’s Community team, which works with individuals, companies and foundations looking to support Beam’s work. This is a role that will give you great exposure throughout Beam and great progression opportunities. You’ll be working directly with Alex, our CEO, and reporting to Nick, our Chief of Staff.
Responsibilities
Pipeline generation: independently generating a robust pipeline to ensure a consistent flow of meetings with qualified opportunities
Outreach and engagement: hustling by using email, phone calls and events to identify and speak with with key decision makers, securing meetings and closing BFC subscriptions
Relationship management: where appropriate, cultivating strong customer relationships and upselling or cross-selling opportunities
Reporting: maintaining records of sales activities and deal progress in our CRM, enabling accurate forecasts and enabling data-driven insights
Continuous development: contributing to areas beyond your primary responsibilities, including strategy, reporting, etc
You’ll need
SaaS or Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) selling experience, ideally in a top tier startup
Strategic and systemic approach - a strong understanding of how to build, track and manage an effective data-driven sales strategy and pipeline
Incredible discovery techniques - exceptional listening and questioning skills to uncover critical information, identify decision makers, and understand client problems where Beam can help
A creative, growth mindset - when there’s a bottleneck, bringing solutions and novel ideas for experimentation that optimises the sales proces
Confident negotiator - demonstrating persuasive skills to efficiently and effectively close deals
Adaptive and resilient - you thrive in a dynamic environment and are optimistic about overcoming obstacles while maintaining motivation
Natural networker - quickly building rapport and establishing trust to develop meaningful relationships with senior stakeholders
Results-driven - you thrive working towards ambitious individual KPIs
What does great look like in one year? You'll have:
Proactively built a pipeline, researching and closing leads to meaningfully contribute to BFC approaching 1,000 companies onboarded
Created and honed a repeatable, streamlined sales system
Provided strategic insight to the Community team, helping to identify new areas of growth
Built relationships with strategically important companies
Contributed to the business case for expanding the community sales function, looking to build out a team – some of whom may end up reporting to you
