About the role Join our team as a Security Officer and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of individuals and property within your assigned area. As a vigilant observer, you will report activities and incidents at the client site, utilizing tools such as wands and metal detectors. Job Description Read and apply Screening SOP. Require data centre personnel to utilize metal detection and/or wand for entrance to and exit of secure areas. Monitor traffic flow through screening checkpoint(s). Follow security breach procedures by notifying supervisors or other appropriate personnel when security breaches occur. Perform hand held wand searches. Perform walk through metal detection searches. Required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations. Employees are required to notify superiors upon becoming aware of unsafe working conditions. All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable company policies and procedures. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorised company representatives. Essential Skills Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable PSA licensing requirements for Security Officers. Knowledge of basic security and fire inspection procedures. Skills in verbal and written communication. Skills in observing situations and decision making. Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications or authorizations specified for the assigned accounts. Knowledge of security operations and procedures. Capable of learning a variety of security and safety devices. Ability to track and maintain schedule assignments. Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances. Basic computer skills are required. Oral and written communications skills. Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Strong customer service and service delivery orientation.
