Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions. Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients. In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Job overview Are you dynamic, proactive, and highly organised with solid people management skills looking to work in a senior business management role supporting the Directors of Operations within the Integrated and Specialist Medicine Clinical Group and the wider Executive team. This is a critical role, delivering high quality business support to the leadership team in ISM. It's also very fast paced, the post holder will be required to deliver within demanding time frames, manage a small executive support team, and be comfortable and confident in dealing with executive level colleagues. Main duties of the job The position is part of a small team that supports the Directors of Operations and wider exec in the Integrated and Specialist Medicine Clinical Group. The post holder will be responsible for providing direct support to the Directors of Operations, ensuring they receive high quality, timely and effective administrative support in order to carry out their duties. The day to day duties will remain flexible with significant autonomy on a day to day basis; this is a fast paced and demanding role and the post holder will be required to deliver within demanding time frames. They will also be required to work across the breadth of the clinical group, wider system and Trust, to ensure the Directors of operations and wider executive team is effective in their full range of roles and duties. It is made up of 9 Clinical Directorates; Acute and General Medicine, Dental, Medical Specialties and Specialist Ambulatory Services, Therapies and Rehabilitation, Integrated Local Services, Pharmacy and Clinical Imaging and Medical Physics, supporting the delivery of care in our hospitals and across our communities. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The post holder will support the Chief Executive/Director of Operation & Partnerships to be effective in all the roles they undertake by working with them on the operational and strategic agenda, representing their views to appropriate internal and external stakeholders, commissioning and quality assuring briefing materials, ensuring that matters the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships is responsible for are recorded and that action is commissioned, followed up and delivered. This is fast paced and demanding role and the post holder will be required to deliver within demanding time frames operational, business and strategic advice to support the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships and the Executive Director’s across the Clinical Group Management Executive. The post holder will synthesise information from a wide range of internal and external sources, using it to provide high quality advice and support to the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships and their team. They will also provide strategic support to a number of work streams on behalf of the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships , ensuring they deliver as required by providing input to policy and decision making at a Trust level. The post holder will also support the delivery of the strategic priorities of the office through both internal and external partnership building, relationship management and inter professional collaboration. Key Responsibilities - Lead the strategic and operational management of the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnership’s Office. - Responsible for delivering an effective service supporting the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships and Executive Directors across the Clinical Group Management Executive team by providing high quality policy advice, information and administrative support. 0220425 Band 8A – CEO/DoOPs Senior Business Manager - Synthesise information from a wide range of internal and external sources, using it to provide high quality advice and support to the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships and their team and to contribute to corporate policies and strategy. - Prepare briefings and various reports detailing complex and sensitive information in a systematic and logical structure to ensure the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships and Executive members are effectively briefed and appropriately sighted on key areas. - Work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including Trust clinical and corporate services, regional and national government departments, regulatory bodies and other NHS Trusts and service providers. - Accompany the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships to key meetings and undertake follow up actions/projects as appropriate– monitoring delivery by others, challenging and securing agreement to take on actions, briefing others and reporting back to the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships. This will involve working with other directors/staff in the achievement of outcomes from such meetings. - Take executive responsibility for tasks delegated by the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships including working with ISM Exec Business Support to ensure the diary is planned to deliver the prioritised objectives of the Trust’s and the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships’ objectives. Will use judgement to decide whether to commission briefing and then ensure it is delivered in time and to quality and take remedial action diplomatically and assertively where necessary. - Exercise delegated authority from the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships to plan, monitor and manage initiatives and projects when indicated by the Chief Executive/Director of Operations & Partnerships, actions following meetings and regular reports. Ensure colleagues receive feedback and action point from Director of Operations & Partnerships activities. - Work sensitively and professionally with the highly sensitive and confidential information to which they will be privy. - Undertake any other duties which may become necessary for the efficient running of the Executive and Management Office.
