We are looking for an experienced Senior Consultant to support our place and economy projects through high quality research, project management, and strategy development expertise. This role would be ideal for someone with a consultancy, public sector, or think tank background, but we are open to hearing from candidates with a range of experience. You have an interest in local economies and how they function. You will play an integral role in curating, managing and supporting the delivery of our projects, bringing experience from a relevant discipline such as economic development, regeneration, or public policy. You are passionate about supporting public sector clients to meet the challenges of the 21st century and delivering better outcomes for their communities. Requirements
You will play an integral role managing and supporting the delivery of PRD’s social and economic research and strategy projects for public sector clients. Tasks include: Designing, managing, and undertaking socio-economic research and analysis programmes Turning evidence into practical recommendations for clients to take forward Working in small teams with colleagues from a range of disciplines to develop strategies and reports Managing projects, including those involving external partners/collaborators Planning and leading workshops and other engagement activities with senior council officers, elected members, and/or local stakeholders You will work with Associate Directors and Directors on multiple projects concurrently and will be active across the spectrum of our economic and place strategy work. You will be expected to proactively manage tasks and colleagues across multiple projects, taking ownership of timely and quality outputs. You will be responsible for socio-economic research and analysis, engaging and liaising with clients and partners, and working with the wider team to develop practical, ambitious, and locally relevant solutions for our clients to take forward. As part of this, there will be unlimited opportunities for internal collaboration with colleagues who specialise in different areas—while we may see things differently, we are all focused on better outcomes for places, communities and stakeholders. You will be actively encouraged to think creatively and challenge the perceived normal way of doing things. Essential skills & attributes: At least three years of professional experience in a relevant field Experience using data sources and repositories relating to UK geographies, economics, demographics, property, etc (e.g. ONS, CoStar, Realyse, London Datastore) Experience of workshop facilitation with professional and/or community stakeholders Excellent writing skills Excellent presentation and communication skills Experience in regeneration, cities and the built environment and generally exploring new ways of working in these areas Proficiency in managing client and colleague relationships and managing projects Desirable skills & attributes: Experience with spatial analysis, preferably QGIS Knowledge of the UK local government and regeneration context Experience of developing socio-economic baselines Experience of translating evidence into policy, strategies, plans, or visions Behaviours & competencies: Innovative and creative thinking: You like thinking differently to solve challenges. You can tap into experience from past projects or your knowledge of innovative ideas being explored elsewhere to suggest creative approaches to problems. Strategic thinking: You can interpret evidence and policy around complex challenges and can make recommendations for the best way forward. You can identify ways to encourage contributions from everyone. Interpersonal skills: You like to participate in engaging discussions with clients, team members and partners. You understand how to communicate with people from different backgrounds or at different levels of their career. Organisation: You can alternative between different projects and activities while retaining diligence and quality. We operate hybrid working arrangements. Regular in-person attendance in London is essential (currently 3 days for 5 day/week staff, 2 days for 4 day/week staff) but our employees need not be London-based​.
