The University of Roehampton is recruiting to the role of Senior Lecturer in Sociology in the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences to join our established sociology, human rights and criminology team.
The School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is the fastest growing area within Roehampton and we welcome applications from academics who can help realise the future ambition of the School.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to lead a supportive and collegiate team. You must be highly motivated, academic and be able to initiate and develop ideas and opportunities in teaching, learning, and research. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in developing the sociology curricula, teach across sociology and criminology and collaborate with colleagues across the school to deliver a vibrant and sustainable sociology UG programme. It will be expected that you are an active researcher in your chosen discipline, making an impact with your research outputs and external collaborations. Expertise specifically in an area relating to teaching and /or research in the sociology of human rights would be welcome.
Key responsibilities will include delivering high quality, impactful contribution to undergraduate, postgraduate teaching to support the University’s desire for students to have confidence, knowledge and the adaptability for a successful graduate career and fulfilling life. The successful candidate will deliver teaching that encompasses employer and skills-led experiential learning and professional development and contribute to curriculum development to ensure that the University’s education portfolio is innovative, attractive and supports students from induction to employment. You will also be expected to contribute and lead on research, becoming a valuable member of our research community at Roehampton.
The successful candidate will have skills and experience in a good understanding of disciplines closely related to the field of expertise, a demonstrable commitment to providing learning and teaching that is research-led or research-informed, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills and experience of leading and developing sociology curricula.
