About the Role
The London Assembly scrutinises the Mayor's activities by questioning the Mayor about their decisions and investigating issues of importance to London. The Liberal Democrat Group scrutinises the work of the Mayor across various policy areas including transport, housing, environment, policing, health, the economy, planning and regeneration, fire and emergency planning, and the Mayor’s multi-billion pound budget. We invite applications from candidates with extensive press and media experience in a busy office and of working for elected representatives or similar high-profile public individuals. Your role will involve working closely with the team’s Senior Researcher who leads on communications and the two Research and Support Officers, including setting and coordinating the day-to-day work of the team. You will liaise with external stakeholders to ensure that the work of the group is represented and promoted through various media, both proactively and reactively promoting the work of the Assembly Members. An in-depth knowledge and understanding of a variety of media is vital. You will work across the full range of policy areas and produce policy briefings and issues papers to be communicated internally and externally. This role works closely with the team and two elected politicians in a dynamic, friendly environment. The work is fast-moving and varied.

What your day will look like
- Producing media monitoring reports for Assembly Members;
- Writing briefings for Assembly Members on upcoming Committee meetings, interviews and events;
- Responding to media and press enquiries to promote the work of the group.
