About the Role
Hackney Adult Social Care (ASC) is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Workforce and Practice Development team on a 12-month fixed term/secondment basis. This exciting role offers the opportunity to lead the development and promotion of the next generation of social workers through mentoring and supporting Social Work students and Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs). You will play a key role in delivering programmes such as the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE), social work apprenticeships, student social work placements, and practice education.
You will be part of the Practice Innovation and Workforce Capability Team, led by the Principal Social Worker, focused on continuous improvement and innovation. The team supports the delivery of strengths-based, anti-racist, and trauma-informed services aligned with Hackney ASC’s three-year plan (2023-26), which prioritises accessibility, prevention, personalisation, and quality.
Hackney ASC is committed to tackling inequality and promoting independence, and this role is central to driving service improvement and strengthening practitioner confidence and experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social worker who wishes to deepen their impact in practice without moving fully into management.

Experience
- Proven experience as a Practice Educator and practice assessor, providing direct support and supervision to Social Work students and individuals completing their ASYE.
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging adult social care legislation.
- Experience in driving service improvement and supporting workforce development.
- Ability to work confidently within a dynamic team focused on innovation and continuous professional development.
